The Peder Hedberg Foundation
The Peder Hedberg Foundation grew out of the experience of Peder Hedberg’s death at age twenty-three. Peder was full of life until he was struck with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Cholangiocarcinoma. The dreams and goals of Peder Hedberg provide the vision of the Foundation. Peder saw value in Christian camping and children with disabilities. Peder dedicated much of his short life working with disabled children and serving on summer Christian camp staffs. Prior to his passing away, Peder spoke of plans to return to school in order to prepare to teach in elementary education. The Peder Hedberg Foundation exists to fund programs that support children and families through the ministries of not-for-profit Christian Camps and Conference Centers, not-for-profit programs working with children with disabilities and special needs, and not-for-profit organizations that advance elementary education.
In July of 2017 The Peder Hedberg Foundation will be in existence for seven years: that month will also mark the completion of the Foundation. The Board feels it is a fitting time to finally mark and celebrate our efforts to remember Peder through The PHF, which was established in his memory, and, seven was Peder’s favorite number. The Peder Hedberg Foundation set a goal of giving $250,000 away to organizations who support Peder’s values, and they have reached that goal, which included ongoing support to Designing Dreams.
The Peder Hedberg Foundation has awarded Designing Dreams with multiple donations since 2014, exceeding $3,000 per year. This foundation has been in support of Designing Dreams since our beginning, and we are extremely grateful for their loyalty, support, and encouragement over the years. We are proud of their successes and are thankful to have been able to help support Peder’s legacy.
