Our Mission
Designing Dreams transforms the bedrooms of children actively fighting cancer. As thousands of children in the US go through rigorous cancer treatments each year, many are too sick or immunocompromised to leave their homes. Our mission is to create an uplifting healing space for children battling loneliness, isolation, and the limitations brought on by their fight against cancer. We partner with interior designers, functional space experts, and professional organizers to create these ultimate spaces for healing, hope, and play.
Brittany's Dream Bedroom
Brittany was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on October 7th, 2022. She was in-patient for 7 months receiving chemo. She recently received a bone marrow transplant from her sister. The results indicated her cancer had come back. They started a new treatment plan, but she had bad side effects that put her in the hospital for 3 weeks. She is currently recovering at home and waiting for the next treatment.
"It hurt to eat or drink. I was so nauseous that I had to get liquids through my line. I had a pain push button to help with the pain but I was really tired. My doctors would always come to check on me and I would always put a smile on for them even if I was in pain. There was a point that I had enough and I cried to my mom saying I couldn’t do this anymore, but I kept going through it. I didn’t like seeing my mom sad." - Brittany
